All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA), yesterday said it was targeting eight governorship victories across the country in this year’s general elections.

Ebonyi state Chairman of the party, Chief Nikky Okorouka disclosed this in Abakaliki while speaking with New Telegraph.

He noted that the party has fortified its structures to actualize the target and listed the states APGA is looking forward to capture in the governorship elections to include; Abia, Enugu and Imo.

While dismissing the insinuation in some quarters that the party was working for incumbent Governor of Ebonyi state, Chief Dave Umahi by
not having governorship candidate for the 2019 elections Okorouka said the party could not field governorship candidate in the state as
N10million nomination form fee scared aspirants away.

He said “we held our primaries in accordance with INEC guidelines which were conducted in our party secretariat along Enugu/ Abakaliki
highway. We have candidates for various offices in Ebonyi state ranging from House of Assembly to senate but we did not field Governorship candidate because nobody contested for it and we don’t know the reason.

“Most of the people that indicated interest for the governorship position when they ask for the price of the nomination form which was
N10million, some of them said it was too much and they don’t have that kind money.

“The level of opposition in Ebonyi state is on a dwindling side because I can see only PDP and APC making waves while other parties don’t.

“We have serious hopes in this 2019 general elections. At the National level, our party is intact and we are doing very well. In Imo state,
we are running and we are very strong, in Abia, Enugu and other various states of the federation we are seriously contesting governorship and other positions. APGA is deeply rooted across the country.

“We are targeting eight governorship victories in the general elections. We are going to make serious efforts that has been on top gear in actualizing that dream. We are hopeful that at the end of that election, we will have up to eight states that will be controlled.
