YENAGOA _As the rescheduled Ijaw National Congress, INC, election draws close, Amb. Igali B. Godknows who was the Acting Chairman of the INC steering committee resigned since Tuesday last week.
This was followed by the resignation of former electoral committee chairman, Rear Admiral YANGA, Retd with reasons yet uncovered.
This tsunamis of resignation shows that all is not well in the electoral process of INC. It is clear that some forces are intruding with the process which is capable of fanning the ember of discourse.
It was observed that the fallouts of the botched INC recent election was almost puting the credibility and integrity of those who were intrusted with the mandate to preside over the electoral process.
The resignations of the duo could be their resolve to avoid a situation where their identity and pedigree would be doubted if the reocurring scenarios were something to go by.
Our investigation with PANDEF secretariat both in Yenagoa, revealed that the iconic Ijaw diplomat, reknown Administrator and historian, Igali had been a key figure in the recent attempts to bring peace and sanity to the Ijaw Nation and Niger Delta.
He served on the committees on IYC, INC reconciliation, INC Constitution redrafting, Ijaw position on Restructuring, PANDEF Steering Committee and INC Steering Committee.
He was also Co-Chairman of the South-South Mega Rally on Restructuring.
When contacted ,Amb. Igali Godknows said his resignation was not connected to any pressure from any quarter, but he did so to enable him creates some times for himself to go about his gubernatorial ambition in the state.
He further said, he is always at the service of Ijaw people and ready to service Ijaw nation whenever he is called upon.
Another source at INC secretariat at Ijaw House stated that Dr. Igali services at this time, will be greatly missed.
While thanking Ijaw people for given him the opportunity to serve them, Igali opined that the rescheduled INC election would be peaceful and devoid of rancour come Saturday July 20th, and that he would always be available to support if needed.
