REPORT BY FBS ON OUT-OF-SCHOOL CHILDREN IN BYS IS COMPLETE FALSEHOOD –Idumange

Research was never conducted at all.

TRACKING >Two Hundred and Sixty Five Thousand (265,000) out-of- school children in Bayelsa State. Worst case in the south (Federal Bureau of Statistics, 2016-2019; Multiple Cluster Indicators Survey, 2019). This is an outcome of undiluted research, and I am particularly ashamed of this dismal statistics. If you can challenge this finding, feel free to do so. But be sure of your intellectual quotient before you fire any salvo. Remember, academics is not politics, and it does not have a royal road.
THE RESEARCH IS A HEAP OF FALSEHOOD

LET ME LAY DOWN MY WORRIES AND WHY THE CLUSTER SAMPLING RESULTS SHOULD BE DISREGARDED

1. As a researcher and an educationist, I have been taught that in every population, 12% should be in the secondary school while 16% should be in the primary school. That is a universal statistical protocol adopted by UNESCO and other world bodies. Did they obey these universal statistical protocols?

2. CLUSTER sampling is a probability sampling technique, which more often is not acceptable as an empirical study. It may only subsume under a quasi-experimental research. That is why if a sampling technique is used, the data do not yield themselves to any parametric statistics because the clusters selected for the study are subjective and probaility in nature.

In cluster sampling, the researcher divides the population into separate groups, called clusters. Then, a simple random sample of clusters is selected from the population. The researcher conducts his analysis on data from the sampled clusters. One of the pitfalls of cluster sampling is the problematic of orthogonality -that is unequal samples with variegated variables.

3.I want the so called researchers to tell us:

■ How many clusters did they select and where?

■ Did the selection go round the Eight Local Government areas?

■ What parameters did they use before selecting the clusters?

■ What was the sample frame used for the analysis?

■ What are the basic assumptions underpining cluster sampling?

■ Who are those who packaged this garbage at this time of election?

Conclusion:
As a man vast in research, I am willing and ready to offer my services (for a fee) to conduct a few robust study on the status of education in Bayelsa State. The report pushed out by the FBS is wishy-washy and has very low reliability coefficient. It is laced with falsehood and should be disregarded. The politicians who sponsored the research are either deliberate mischief makers or amateurish. The public should disregard this piece of misinformation.
