***APPEAL FOR MORE ASSISTANCE

TRACKING> Convener of the TEAM SUPPORT DEBORAH QUICKPEN PROJECT, Ada Gwegwe, has called on well meaning Bayelsans both home and abroad to see that young Deborah Quickpen, participate at the forth coming Under – 8 African Chess Championship, in Namibia.

In a statement made available on Thursday in Yenagoa, Ada Gwegwe, and its Coordinator, Patrick Ndubuisi, commended the efforts of FIFA Match Agent, Ebi Egbe,(Moni Love), and Chairman Bayelsa Queens, Ebiki Timitimi, for their financial contributions to the gold medalist, but decried the slow response from state authorities and individuals despite several calls by the promoters of Deborah.

Ebiki Timitimi, alongside his group, presented a merit award to Deborah, and paid her current term school fees, while Moni Love, completed her remaining primary school tuition fees, and also paid for her visa fee to Namibia.

According to the renowned Coach, it will be sad if the seven year old, who has made history as the youngest Nigerian to win a gold in chess, will be abandoned, and not supported in her quest, whereas, in other climes, Deborah would have been the cynosure of all eyes, with scholarships and free trips to international competition.

“It will not be good if Deborah Quickpen don’t make it to Namibia for her competition. The young girl is mentally ready, and if she is denied, it will be really sad. I am appealing to the good people of Bayelsa, please let’s support her travel for the trip”.

Coordinator of TEAM SUPPORT DEBORAH QUICKPEN PROJECT, and Deborah’s promoter, Patrick Ndubuisi, in the statement, whike commending the donors, Ebiki Timitimi, and Ebi Egbe, frowned at the ‘conspiracy of silence’ by well meaning Bayelsans, on the issue of the young National chess champion.

Patrick prayed God to touch the heart of the State Government, and other well known philanthropist, to assist Deborah Quickpen, who has barley one week, before the tourney kicks off on December 14th.
