The Chairman of the Rivers State council of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Beatrice Itubo has emerged the governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the State.
Itubo was declared winner of the primaries after pulling 201 votes out of the 272 delegate votes.
She defeated a former member of the House of Representatives, Eneyi Braid, who polled 71 votes.
The primaries was held in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
Speaking after her emergence, Itubo called on Rivers people to ensure they secured their permanent voters’ cards in order to vote out bad leaders.
Itubo said, “tell everyone within your sphere of interest to go and register and get their PVC because if you don’t have your PVC, if you like, line out from here and get to Ordinance Junction, it will take us to nowhere.
“So, go and get your PVC and your PVC will speak.
“With the new Electoral Act, the time of ballot box snatching is gone and gone for good”.
