2023: APC ‘Gate’ Is Still Open As Party Denies Zoning Presidential Ticket, Others

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has left its doors open about concluding on candidates for the 2023 general elections including the presidency.

This is as the party denied releasing any zoning formula for candidates on its platform ahead of the scheduled polls.

Speaking after some viral reports in some sections of the media that the party has zoned its presidential ticket to the south, the chairman of the party’s Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has rubbished such reports.

It was gathered that the rumours had it that the party had zoned the President to the South, Vice President to the North, Senate President given to the South and Deputy Senate President to the North.

Other positions rumoured to have been zoned were the House of Representatives Speaker to the North and Deputy Speaker to the South.

A part of the report even suggested a Christian southerner is been considered for the presidency.

But Buni while reacting said there is no truth in the zoning formula that is trending.

He said: “This is absolutely false! Where was it done and at what occasion? This is a mere fabrication of the writer’s imagination. It is completely misleading.”

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced Saturday, September 4, 2021, for the conduct of its local government congress.

The Secretary of the party’s Caretaker Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) Senator John James Akpanudoedehe in a terse statement on Wednesday in Abuja disclosed that the sale of forms for the congress has already begun.

The congress will bring the ruling party closer to the conduct of a national convention where elected officers can be chosen to replace the existing caretaker committee led by Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni.
