Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

According to reports, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have suspended their presidential campaign rallies.
Track News has learned that the campaign rallies originally scheduled for Kebbi and Zamfara states on Wednesday, December 12 and Thursday, December 13, 2022, have been canceled.

Recall that Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and his allies – Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Samuel Ortom (Benue State), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu State), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State), and others – have called for the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, in the interest of balance, equity, and fairness, claiming that

Wike also stated that the party’s national chairman promised to step down once the party’s presidential candidate emerged from the north, emphasizing that Ayu must resign before agreeing to campaign for Atiku.

Track News reported that the main opposition party was suspending its rallies in order to resume talks with the Wike group, known as the G-5 governors.

According to reports, Atiku has enlisted the help of former Senate President David Mark, former Rivers State Governor and Wike’s ‘godfather’ Peter Odili, and former Delta State Governor James Ibori to appease the Rivers State Governor.

Speaking on the postponement, former PDP publicity secretary and campaign spokesperson Kola Ologbondiyan, secretary of the presidential campaign council, said the rally was not postponed or canceled.

“No, no, no, the campaign was not put on hold or suspended,” he insisted.

Falsehood
Speaking on the reported postponement, Dele Momodu, Director of Strategic Communications for the PDP presidential campaign council, debunked media reports that the party had suspended rallies due to the rift between Atiku and Wike.

Momodu responded via his verified Instagram handle, saying the stories are false and that the party is continuing with its rallies, with the next stop being Kaduna.

Unlike the APC, which is still putting its act together, our Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council has taken off like a rocket…

“By God’s grace, I’ll see you in Kaduna soon,” Momodu said.
