Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.
The Coalition for Media Politics and Governance, or CMPG, of the Peoples Democratic Party has reiterated its full support for the party’s Delta State Governorship candidate, Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, and urged the party to form a campaign council.
The coalition’s chairman, Dr Fred Oghenesivbe, a Fellow of the Civilian Institute of Democratic Administration, FCIDA, told Tracknews in Lagos yesterday that the legal battle started by a former governorship aspirant, Olorogun David Edevbie, was born of desperation and would be futile.
He stated that in a constitutional democracy, political sovereignty belongs to the people, who then donate that sovereignty to whomever they choose, thereby creating a valid and legal social contract between the leaders and the led, the government and the governed.
The coalition chairman claimed that PDP members surrendered their political sovereignty to Sheriff Francis Oborevwori in a free, fair, and transparent governorship primary, implying that Edevbie does not wish well for the PDP or the state by purposefully and maliciously causing disaffection and division within the party in Delta State.
The CMPG leadership and members, according to Oghenesivbe, will continue to work tirelessly and strategically with credible PDP structures led by Delta State Governor and PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
“All of Olorogun David Edevbie’s plotting and desperation will be in vain,” he foresaw. He lacks the popularity, humility, and respect for the common man and stakeholders required to be elected governor of the state.
“Sheriff Francis Oborevwori is the PDP’s genuine Delta State governorship candidate, and any backdoor deal to impose Edevbie on the party will be resisted, and Oborevwori will undoubtedly succeed Okowa on May 29, 2023.”
“I have no doubt that Oborevwori will be unveiled as our genuine governorship candidate at Saturday’s mega rally in Ozoro.”
