According to Punch, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged Nigerian politicians to accept in good faith the outcome of the elections, whether they win or lose.

But Punch recalled that the commission had taken steps to ensure free, fair, and credible elections in the country, adding that politicians should accept defeat and congratulate the winner.

He said: It is important that politicians accept the results of elections, whether they win or lose.

We would like to encourage everyone to behave peacefully during the electoral process.

The INEC official also warned politicians against taking any election result to court, saying such actions would be detrimental to the country’s democracy. He said: We want to urge politicians to stop going to court over every election result.

It is important to accept the outcome of the elections in good faith.

Going to court over every election result is not good for our democracy, it is very costly.

Dr. Ogunmola also urged media professionals to maintain the highest level of professionalism and impartiality in their coverage of elections, stating that the media play a crucial role in shaping public opinion and perception of the electoral process.
