Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has expressed confidence that he would emerge as the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking on Saturday, Bello said he is sure of defeating the likes of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and other aspirants seeking to clinch the APC presidential ticket for 2023.

TrackNews reports Governor Bello who is also a presidential aspirant expressed the confidence while answering questions at the second GYB annual seminar for political and crime correspondents and editors.

Specifically, he stated that he is not afraid of Tinubu or any other aspirant, boasting that he would defeat them all at the APC presidential primaries and go ahead to win the 2023 presidential election.

The Governor added that he has not less than 16 million ready votes from Nigerians and he is sure of becoming a champion.

“To answer your question on whether I am scared of other contestants for the presidency. You mentioned asiwaju Bola Tinubu and others. I will say ‘no, I am not scared of anybody in the contest for the APC presidential ticket’,” he said.

“Tinubu and others are founding members of the APC, but foundation is not enough. I will defeat all the other aspirants because I have all it takes to be a champion. My performance in Kogi state will speak for me.”

Meanwhile, the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on Saturday revealed why he wants to take over for President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

According to the former Governor of Rivers State, his reason for joining the presidential race is not to fulfill his personal ambition.

Amaechi noted that he is contesting for the highest political sit because he believes it is his modest duty to give what he can in the service of Nigeria.

He stated this when he declared his intention to join the presidential race in Port Harcourt on Saturday.
