The immediate past Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo State, Mutiu Agboke, has said that no one will sit at the corner to write the results of the forthcoming general elections.

Agboke disclosed that masses are suffering, hence there is a need for the politicians to bridge the gap between rich and poor as he encouraged politicians vying for political positions in 2023 general elections to, as a matter of concern, find ways to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor.

He made these disclosures while speaking at the annual lecture organised by The Muslim Congress (TMC) in commemoration of the 62th independence anniversary, held in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Sunday.

Some of the dignitaries at the event included Executive Secretary of Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) Professor Muslih Yahya, Grand Mufti of Conference of Islamic Organisation, Lagos, Sheikh Dhikrullah Shafii, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Oyo Central district, Dr. Yunus Akintunde and TMC Amir in the state, Engineer Daud Oladosu.

Agboke while speaking on the topic, “Restoring our pristine national values”, insisted that no one will sit at the corner to write the results of the forthcoming elections contrary to what some politicians are relying on.

The former REC who said that some politicians are of the opinion that the results will be written for them, however said that those politicians will be surprised that there will be no manipulations prior, during and after the elections.

“No one will sit at the corner to write election results. Even REC or electoral officers cannot help you. Whether you are a Muslim or a Christian, this message is for you.

“What you can do is to monitor the polling units. INEC cannot manipulate the results. Some politicians are still looking for REC to change election results for them. But, that will not happen
