Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s choice for president, is backed by more than five state governors as well as other prominent national personalities.
This was said by Bashiru Apapa, the party’s deputy national chairman, over the weekend in Ado Ekiti, the state’s capital, during a party members’ sensitization session.

However, Apapa said that the party will keep secret the names of the governors who were supporting the outgoing governor of Anambra State.

He claimed that due to their popularity, governors and other leaders support Obi and the party, and he added that Obi’s presidential campaign was daily garnering broad support across the country.

Apapa claims that Obi’s rising popularity poses a danger to both the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“Some people have come up to back Obi, he added, “from some leaders all the way up to presidents of state.

“More than five governors are in favor of the party below. We don’t want to mention their names just now.

Due to the LP’s success, “everyone is now supporting it; obviously, the APC and PDP are afraid.”

2023: A lot of Yoruba leaders do not concur with Adebanjo’s endorsement for Peter Obi.
Ayo Adebanjo, the leader of Afenifere, has been denounced by certain Yoruba elders for supporting Peter Obi in the 2023 race.

The Yoruba Youth Congress (YYC) responded to Pa Adebanjo’s choice to support Obi by saying that he did not concur with Afenifere or the vast majority of Yoruba leaders.

YYC claims that Pa Adebanjo’s decision to back the former Anambra State governor is solely based on his personal judgment.

In a statement released in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, the group’s president, Dapo Adepoju, asserted that Adebanjo has the authority to support any candidate for president in 2023.
