The camp of Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi has revealed that his meeting with some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftains was to forge a united front for a winning alliance against the big two – the PDP and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Track News previously reported that Obi met with Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and some PDP stalwarts in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, on Monday.
The meeting is the former Governor of Anambra State’s second with Wike since leaving the PDP and declaring his presidential ambitions on the LP platform.
Former Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko, former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke, and former Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Dankwanbo are among those attending the meeting.
Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mohammed Adoke, and others are also present.

Reacting to photos from the meeting, party supporters told reporters that the gathering was the start of a viable alliance.
According to the Obi camp, the meeting was a huge political capital for Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State.
Wike, Lion Who Can Help Peter Obi Win
Ugochukwu Emeh, Chairman of the Anambra State Labour Party, stated that Wike is the Lion who can propel the former Anambra state governor to the presidency in 2023.
He also welcomed Wike and his supporters into the party. He believes that “when people like Wike join us, the Labour Party will grow bigger.” We welcome everyone, especially political heavyweights like Rivers State Governor. He is the PDP’s Lion and the opposition’s last man standing.
“Wike has a lot of structure, as do all of those around him.” They’ve been in government, and because they’ve been in government, they go to these places with their structure and followers.
“We will be delighted to welcome Wike and his supporters to a winning ticket, a winning alliance.” He is a people’s candidate who can help us win the election next year.”
