Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, the Labour Party has vowed that its flagbearer, Mr. Peter Obi would succeed President Muhammadu Buhari, stating that Nigerians would jettison the two major political parties.

Speaking while unveiling the party’s Presidential Campaign Council list on Wednesday, the Director General of Obi’s Campaign Organization, Dr Doyin Okupe, said the party is set to retire the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, via the forthcoming elections.

Track News previously reported that the Labour Party released the list of its Presidential Campaign Council on Wednesday, about 14 days after the campaign officially began.

While the APC had 422 members on its Presidential Campaign Council and the PDP had 520, the Labour Party has the largest council list with 1,234 members.

Okupe praised Nigerians for recognizing the LP candidate as the best candidate for the presidential election.

He claimed that no other presidential candidate could compare to Peter Obi in terms of competence and capacity, and he emphasized that the country’s two major political parties would expire soon.

“Fundamentally floored by the adoption of Muslim-Muslim ticket,” he said. We are not bringing religion into politics; rather, we are attempting to remove religion from politics.

“50% of newly registered voters are younger Nigerians.”

Okupe responded to the suggestion that supporters of the former Anambra Governor only exist on social media, saying, “because they are old schools, they don’t understand.” He claims that his party “has 15 million votes already; we’re going to show them.”

“PDP and APC are about to expire. Nigerians will suffocate them. There are more new voters than old voters, with Obi-dients constituting 80% of the new voters.”

“It is no longer business as usual,” Okupe said of the possibility of some political parties rigging the 2023 presidential election.

Peter Obi’s National Campaign Manager, Isaac Balami, told DAILY POST exclusively shortly after the press conference that the party is currently putting in place measures to ensure that Obi supporters exercise their fundamental human rights come 2023.

“The two, three, four, and five million march across the country, we got them for free; we didn’t hire anyone with money,” he explained.

“We are now going to the grassroots, training people in both local governments and polling units to ensure that votes are counted and secure until they are uploaded.”

“We have the youths on our side, we’re working with the women, we have reasonable elders, and we’re going to make sure that all of their votes count.”
