Dino Melaye, the spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party’s Presidential Campaign Council, has accused the All Progressives Congress’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, of plagiarism.
Melaye accused Tinubu of plagiarizing the late MKO Abiola’s campaign manifesto and slogan.
Tinubu, according to the former Kogi West Senator, copied Abiola’s 1993 presidential campaign slogan out of desperation.
Melaye said in a tweet that Tinubu’s ideas are archaic and no longer reflect current realities in Nigeria.
Tinubu’s manifesto, according to Melaye, “renewed hopelessness.”
“In desperation to be like Abiola, Tinubu is photocopying Abiola in all ramifications,” he wrote. Tinubu is also running on a Muslim Muslim ticket, as Abiola did. Abiola chose a Kanuri man as Vice President, and Tinubu did the same. Tinubu’s slogan is Renewed Hope 2023, while Abiola’s was Hope 93.
“Reinforced Hopelessness.” I’m not concerned about Tinubu’s age, but about the age of his ideas. Too antiquated and out of touch with modern realities. “Please vote for Atiku Abubakar.”
