Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State has, ahead of the forthcoming general election, lamented over the rising social vices in the country.

Umahi, however, blamed the various social vices witnessed in the country, especially among the youths, on parents’ inability to give their children adequate training and teachings.

The governor made this known through a statement signed and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki, the state capital, through the Special Assistant on Media and Strategy, Mr. Chooks Oko, on Saturday.

He expressed regret in the rising rate of social vices in the country, which he blamed on a decline in family values and bonding, and charged Nigerian families to wake up to their responsibility of character moulding for their children.

According to him: “We are living in a dangerous moments, and what will save every family today is contentment.”

Recall that there have been issues of civil unrest among youths, especially in Ebonyi villages, wherein such situations had caused communal disputes and other related violence, as well as the destruction of lives and properties
