All the ethnic communities of Akwa Ibom State residing in parts of Cross River State converged in Calabar, the state capital, for a carnival procession to mark the 35th anniversary of the state’s creation.

They came under the aegis of Nka Afid Ndito Akwa Ibom in Cross River State in their numbers and state colours.

They rolled out drums and rode on long, decorated trucks blaring songs accompanied by dexterous dance steps from their young men and women.

There were traditional masquerade displays and other cultures of the people were showcased.

Chairman of the group, Captain Itoro Unung explained that the group has over one million members in the state and was formed over 26 years ago to galvanise and unite the ethnic nations of Akwa Ibom State both in Cross River and elsewhere.
