5 year old girl donates money to Ogun government to fight coronavirus

Oluwashikemi Ogunseye, a five-year-old girl in Ogun State has donated N950 to the state governor, Dapo Abiodun, to fight against coronavirus.

Read excerpts from her Interview with Daud Olatunji below:

How old are you?

I am five years old and I am in Basic 1.

The state governor said you donated N950 towards the fight against coronavirus in the state, is it true?

Yes, I contributed N950 towards the fight against coronavirus. The money was my own.

How did you get it?

Mummy Kaduna and Daddy Port Harcourt gave me the money. It was given to me last Christmas.

How much was given to you?

Mummy Kaduna gave me N5, 000 and Daddy Port Harcourt gave me N10, 000, making N15, 000.

How did you spend the money?

After buying some things, the money remained N3,000.

How many people have called you after you donated money to the state government?

Only my daddy thanked me for the donation.

What do you know about coronavirus?

I was told coronavirus kills people.

Why did you choose to give Ogun State Government N950?

I don’t want coronavirus to kill people in Ogun State.

What advice do you have for your peers?

They should please donate. They should also ensure they wash their hands with soap and water and use sanitisers.

What do you aspire to become when you grow up?

I want to study medicine and become a doctor.
