Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

There are now 86 princes vying for the position of Alaafin of Oyo.
According to TrackNews, Yussuf Ayoola, the Basorun of Oyo, received the names of the competitors from Baba Iyaji in Oyo, Mukaila Afonja, who also serves as the head of princes in Oyo town.

The Alaafin of Oyo’s Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, released a statement on Thursday informing the public of this most recent development.

Following the transmission of the names, Basarun is claimed to have called a hastily convened emergency meeting of the whole Oyo Traditional Council (Oyo Mesi).

A peace meeting will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Agbala Ogun Hall in the Palace, according to a resolution made at the meeting, according to Durojaiye.

He mentioned that between September 4 and September 8th, 2022, all contestants would be inspected.

The statement said that Alhaja Kafilat, the chairperson of the Atiba Local Government, was present at the meeting.

At the conclusion of the discussion, it was decided that all contestants should attend a peace meeting on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Agbala Ogun Hall in the Palace as a matter of highest concern.

“Thereafter, 10 contestants will appear for interviews every day from Monday, September 4, 2022, through Thursday, September 8, 2022.

There will be a gap on Friday since there won’t be an interview to make room for the Jumat service.

The interview will continue on Monday, September 12 and continue through September 15, 2022.
