The Federal Government has directed the Niger Delta Development Commission to urgently intervene over the bad state of Ahoada West-Mbiama axis of the East West road.
The road has recently been cut into two parts due to the ravaging flood in the area.
The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Umana Okon Umana, gave the charge during his visit to the area to ascertain the level of damage done by the flood.
He also directed the NDDC to ensure the provision of “relief materials to flood victims” in affected local government areas.
The Minister said the federal government “acknowledges” the development as an “emergency” situation and therefore has directed relevant agencies to ensure that “appropriate actions are taken to arrest” the situation.
