Google has announced the launch of its partners programme in Nigeria, which is designed to further empower the country’s digital ecosystem.
The certification programme brings together Google and advertising agencies, digital marketing agencies, and other online consultants who manage AdWords accounts.
The company, which made the disclosure recently in Lagos, explained that the initiative was aimed at enabling digital agencies and brands taking advantage of the online marketing tools to connect with their users.
“Through the Partners programme, Google ensures that businesses get the help they need when it comes to things like search, mobile, display, video, and shopping advertising.
“Digital marketing agencies with partner certifications will be able to display it on their websites, showing that they have passed Google Ads exams and are up to date with the latest product knowledge,” the company said.
Speaking at the product launch, the Country Director, Google Nigeria, Juliet Ehimuan-Chiazor said: “The introduction of Google Partners is just the latest example of our commitment to bringing the next wave of Nigerian businesses online.
“Google sees Nigeria as a strong market for growth. We look forward to seeing how digital marketers use the Partners programme to fuel the next phase of that growth.”
According to Ehimuan-Chiazor, “Anyone wanting to become a Google Partner has to pass Google Ad Words product certification exams. Plus, they have to stay up-to-date with the latest product knowledge.
“That means if you approach a digital marketing agency or consultancy with partner status, they’re far more likely to give you the best service in search, mobile, display, video, and shopper advertising.”
Agencies are key partners for working with small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The Google Partners programme helps us bring businesses online by strengthening the digital ecosystem,” she added
Google further disclosed that there were also significant advantages for digital marketing professionals in the programme. Not only can they accelerate customer acquisition, they can also continually improve their product knowledge, and earn rewards.
According to Google, there were also a number of benefits for agencies that achieve Google partner status.
One major benefit for partners is accelerated customer acquisition through being able to introduce themselves to the market as a Google Partner and being searchable within the Google Partners channel.
“Partners can also continually improve their product knowledge with Partners University and Advertiser Community Partner sessions. Additionally, agencies can earn rewards, providing incentives for their staff to stay up to date with their certifications,” Google said
