EPL: What I really like about Argentina player, Martinez – Man Utd coach, Ten Hag
Manchester United head coach, Erik ten Hag has revealed what he really likes about Argentina World Cup star, Lisandro Martinez.
Ten Hag said he likes Martinez because the defender is proactive, adding that he has no doubt about the player’s ability.
According to the Dutchman, that is one of the reasons he bought Martinez from Ajax in the summer transfer window.
Martinez returned to training at Man United this week following ten days of celebrations in South America after Argentina’s World Cup triumph in Qatar.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Man United’s Premier League tie with Wolves at Molineux on Saturday, Ten Hag said, “Argentina played to win, in contrast to many other nations who played not to lose.
“He [Martinez] has shown that mentality several times with Manchester United: to be proactive, that’s what I like.”
He added, “I didn’t have any doubts, that is why I brought him in because I know there is high potential.
“If he works well, he can make huge progress – there’s room for improvement.
“Now he’s returning from the World Cup, he also has a new challenge to get over because the experience is so emotional
