“I Will Soon Go Back To Collect My Certificate of Return” – Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Says After Voting
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, a candidate from the Labour Party, was interviewed by Africa Independent Television (AIT) after voting at his polling unit.
When asked about congratulating his opponent if he loses the election, he responded by saying that he will soon come back to collect his certificate of return. He also stated that he will fight until the end if the election does not turn out as he desires, as he believes that a credible election is necessary.
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour expressed that he cannot comment on the credibility of the election until the transmission of the results, and that there is already an injunction in place to ensure that INEC follows proper procedures.
He condemned the use of violence in the election, stating that those causing it are suffering and that those using them are taking advantage of their unemployment. He also spoke about his desire to see Lagosians have a better quality of life and how the state has the resources to make that happen.
Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour recounted an incident where touts were causing trouble at a polling unit in Ojodu, but he felt safe at the polling unit where he cast his vote, as he believed the will of the people would ultimately prevail. Overall, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour’s statements indicate his determination to fight for a credible election and improve the lives of Lagosians.
