FINANCIAL PROBE: TINUBU SUSPENDS BETTA EDU
President Bola Tinubu has suspended the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, from office with immediate effect.
In a statement by presidential spokesperson AJURI Ngelale , the President further directs the anti-graft agency (EFCC) to conduct a thorough investigation into all aspects of the financial transactions involving the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation
In addition, a panel led by the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance is to comprehensively assess the financial framework of social investment programs.
The statement adds that the decision to suspend the minister aligns with the President’s commitment to upholding integrity, transparency, and accountability in managing the nation’s resources.
The suspension follows allegations of the minister transferring N585.2 million to a private account, violating financial regulations.
