I Am Tired of the Complains and Hardship, I Will Inform Tinubu of the Suffering of Nigerians – Kano Governor Abba Yusuf
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state has expressed concern over the rising cost of essential commodities in his state and across the country, vowing to personally inform President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the plight of Nigerians.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf lamented the hardship faced by many residents who are struggling to afford even three meals a day due to the persistent inflation.
He attributed the high prices, in part, to monopolistic practices and called on the business community to prioritise ethical values and collaborate with the government to address the situation.
According to the governor, despite the challenges posed by the rising dollar exchange rate, corrective measures can significantly alleviate the suffering in the land.
Governor Yusuf said he is committed to understanding the challenges faced by ordinary citizens and ensuring their well-being. According to the statement, the governor has ordered a comprehensive market survey to assess the true extent of inflation and is determined to find solutions through collaborative efforts.
One of the key initiatives announced by the governor is the establishment of a high-powered Business Community Consultative Forum. This forum will bring together government officials and business leaders to regularly discuss and combat monopolistic practices while also working to create a more conducive business environment.

Governor Yusuf also proposed the implementation of a price regulatory mechanism to stabilise inflation and provide relief to the populace. Additionally, he outlined plans to introduce a more effective revenue generation system to meet constitutional requirements and prevent revenue leakages.
During the interactive session with the Kano Business Community, some business leaders attributed the inflation to various factors, including the high dollar exchange rate, rising production costs, unreliable power supply, and border closures. They urged the governor to seek intervention from the Federal Government to address these issues.
