Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) reported a tragic boat accident that occurred on Wednesday in Lagos. According to Wuraola Alake of the Public Affairs Unit of LASWA, a boat carrying 17 passengers collided with a submerged shoreline, resulting in one casualty and the rescue of 15 individuals.
The incident took place close to Powerline, Ikoyi Bridge, as the boat was en route to Ikorodu. The collision was caused by a rise in tide, which led to the boat hitting a high-tension pole that was flooded by water. The impact caused the boat to overturn, leaving the passengers in a dangerous situation.
