BYHA Speaker congratulates new Bayelsa PDP executives
•••Lauds Smooth Conduct of the Congress
TRACKING____The speaker of Bayelsa state House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere has expressed satisfaction over the massive turnout and smooth conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP State Congress held on Monday 23 March, 2020 in Bayelsa state..
The speaker, who participated in the exercise lauded the party members for displaying high level of maturity in the conduct of the party activities.
He said members of the party who turned out in enmasse to exercise their civil responsibility confirmed the fact that the PDP is a cohesive party.
“All our great party members in the state, you have done well for turning out in this number to be part of the congresses. I want to use this medium to thank you all for the orderliness and peaceful way you conducted yourself.
“We are members of the same family and that is why we are doing it in line with our constitution. The party agreed that it is either we do election or we vote by way of consensus and that what we have done peacefully today.
“I want to use this opportunity to say a big thank you to the governor of Bayelsa state Senator Douye Diri for his peaceful and transparent manner and also to all our members across the state that performed this electoral process across the 105 wards in the State.
“We know that the PDP can get stronger if there is always peace and consensus among all our members.
He promised to support and work very closely with the new state executive of party to consolidate the party and forge a new frontier in governance and participatory grassroot democracy.
He further thanked the outgoing executives led by Hon. Moses Cleopas for their unparallel stewardship that saw the party grow stronger, broader and more relevant. He commended them for the steady way they led the party maintaining party discipline and cohesion through the years.
“The outgoing executives led by Hon. Moses Cleopas did a wonderful job. He led the party with a unity of purpose underpinned by the spirit of inclusiveness and purpose. We will not lose any election but this depends on how you handle your new responsibilities,” he said.
On the issue of the congress conducted, the speaker said it was conducted in line with the guiding laws of the party.
“The people who own the party have spoken and chosen their leaders. The success of the congress held confirms the tradition of robust democracy and consensus-building that has brought progressive development to our state”.
He said the new chairman of the party in the state, Mr. Solomon Aguana, was no stranger to him and no stranger to responsibility he added.
