Ikoyi Club Suspends Folorunsho Alakija’s Husband For Physically Attacking, Abusing, Injuring Another Member
One of the most highly respected social clubs in Lagos, Ikoyi Club, has suspended, Modupe husband of one of the richest women in Africa, Folorunsho Alakija.
Ikoyi Club is reputed to be a club which members are billionaires.
In a poster seen on the club’s notice board and making the rounds on the internet, Modupe Alakija’s membership has been barred for a year for assaulting and abusing a fellow member, the act seen as running contrary to the rules of the club.
The notice, which was printed on the club’s letterhead paper and signed by its secretary, Bamidele Ibironke, carried a smiling picture of the billionaire.
“The above-named member of the Club is hereby placed on a one (1) year suspension from the Club for physically assaulting and abusing a fellow member, conduct injurious to the interest of the Club, thereby violating Rule 9(c) of the Club’s Rule Book.
“This suspension takes effect from December 1st, 2021 to November 30, 2022,” it read.
Alakija, it was gathered, engaged in fisticuffs with another member in the club premises thereby allegedly injuring the man.
