2023: I’ve no plans to be Vice President – Mimiko
Former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko has disclosed that he has no plans to become the Vice President of the country in 2023.
According to Mimiko, he has not met with anyone to discuss the purported ambition as reported in one of the national dailies.
It was reported that Mimiko had met with the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal in Abuja where the decision to pair up as presidential and vice presidential aspirants were discussed.
In a statement issued by John Paul Akinduro, the Digital and Media aide to Mimiko, he said the permutations were all false, adding that it does not represent his interest and position on the political reality of the PDP as Nigeria coasts home to the 2023 election.
Mimiko, who said he had been inundated with calls from friends and associates over the report, said no such meeting was held.
While emphasizing that he aligned with the call of the people of Southern Nigeria as exemplified by the Southern Governors for a Southern president in the next dispensation, Mimiko maintained that in all his deliberations within Afenifere he had never muted any idea of seeking support for a Vice Presidential ambition.
“Above all, Mimiko has made it clear that he is in the PDP to work towards actualising the decision of the majority of party members towards rescuing and rebuilding Nigeria for the good of the people and not any personal, individual agenda.”
