Wife Drags Husband To Court For Slapping Her
A Nigerian housewife, Oyenike Oladele, has dragged her husband, Olowolagba, 45, to an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for physically assaulting her.
Oyenike lodged a complaint at the Dugbe Police Station in Osogbo. She alleged that she was assaulted by her husband on January 7, 2022, around 10:30 am at Aregbe area in Osogbo.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode informed the court that the victim was slapped across the face by Olowolagba.
Kayode stated the act was contrary to and punishable under Section 351 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Volume II, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge, and his defense counsel, Najite Okobe, prayed the court grant him bail under liberal terms as there was no concrete evidence to tie him to the crime.
The magistrate, Asimiyu Adebayo consequently granted the accused a bail of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned till March 16 for mention.
Meanwhile, a lion cub has been rescued by the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency, NESREA, from wildlife traffickers on Thursday in Abuja.
The National Park Service combined with a team from NESREA, and the Nigerian Police Force, swung into action, arresting the suspects who tried to sell off the animal after getting a tip-off.
The suspects were reportedly trying to sell off the animal for N6 million. Read more
