JUST IN: A separatist commander has been ‘killed.’ – See details
By Adeleye Kunle
Oliver Lekeaka, the leader of the Red Dragon militia and an Ambazonian separatist commander, has reportedly been killed, according to Track News
His death has been rumored since Tuesday, but various Ambazonia platforms have denied it. However, another separatist organization, the Biafra Nations League (BNL), confirmed his death today (Thursday).
Tracknews Nigeria learned that Field Marshall died as a result of the Rapid Intervention Battalion’s campaign between Monday and Wednesday.
According to the Cameroonian government, the attack killed Lekeaka and one of his guards, while the remaining Red Dragons militia fled.
Following that, photos of a corpse that appeared to match Lekeaka were published.
Oliver, 53, had been declared dead three times prior to this raid. Soldiers stationed in Cameroon’s southwest claimed to have killed him in December 2018. His supporters denied this information. Since then, the man once known as one of the most feared militiamen has kept a low profile.
According to some reports, Field Marshall was wounded and on the run in neighboring Nigeria, but other sources say he was holed up in Lebialem, Cameroon.
