Abia Govt committed to delivering infrastructure development – Ikpeazu
Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia on Monday said that the state government was commitment to excellence, in delivering infrastructure development was unwavering.
Ikpeazu said this during the Abia 27th anniversary celebration tagged “2018 Abia Day” at International Conference Centre (ICC), Umuahia.
The governor said that the state government was determined to ensure that the people of Abia enjoy the dividends of democracy.
“We will never rest until we get to that excellent destination motivated by our founding fathers, to work assiduously for the creation of Abia,”he said.
Ikpeazu said that the state government had inaugurated strategic measures for the rapid socio-economic renaissance of Abia, adding that the efforts had started yielding bountiful fruits.
He expressed delight over the new lease of “unity, oneness and togetherness” in Abia, and expressed optimism that it would be sustained.
In an interview with journalists, some stakeholders expressed delight over the developmental strides recorded since the creation of the state and urged the state government to increase its developmental efforts.
Eze Philip Ajomiwe of Oriendu Community said that agriculture was paramount in the development of every society, adding that Abia had made considerable efforts to explore the sector.
Ajomiwe, who noted that “we are not doing enough to promote agricultural development “, called on the people of the state to take advantage of the numerous agricultural programmes initiated by the state government.
Mrs Victoria Akanwa, a political stakeholder, said that Abia had made significant advancement in various sectors of the economy, added that there was still room for improvement.
Akanwa called on the people of the state to evolve ideas that would complement the efforts of the state government in moving Abia forward.
Another stakeholder, Dr Uju Agomoh, called on Abia people to appreciate the efforts made by Abia government in creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Agomoh noted that the present administration in the state had brought a lot of innovations, including made-in- Aba campaign and other basic infrastructure to ensure that Abia attains greater heights.
The event featured presentation of award to 36 persons who made significant marks in their professions and communities in the state.
3 secondary school students who had best results in West African Secondary School Certificate examination in Abia were presented with cash rewards of N1million each.
