Ademola Adeleke, the newly elected governor of Osun State, has warned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to allow the All Progressives Congress to tamper with election materials for the July 16 governorship election.

According to Track News, Adeleke issued the warning in a statement signed by the Chairman of his Media Management Team, Prince Diran Odeyemi, on Tuesday in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.

Adeleke claimed in the statement that the APC was collaborating with INEC to tamper with electoral materials that would be used against Adeleke’s victory at the Election Petition Tribunal.

He claimed that some APC leaders had been moving around the commission’s local government offices, liaising with INEC officials in order to tamper with election materials kept in their custody.

Adeleke urged INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu to direct INEC officials in Osun to submit all electoral materials to the state headquarters.

“There is rumour milling around the state that the leadership of the All Progressives Congress is romancing the INEC to tamper with some electoral materials that could be used against the governor-victory elect’s in their alleged proposed brief at the Election Petition Tribunal,” the statement read in part.

“Some APC leaders have been moving around the commission’s local government offices, liaising with INEC officials in order to tamper with some of the Electoral Materials in their custody.”

“Senator Adeleke urged INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu to summon his officials in Osun State and prevent them from carrying out the heinous act.”

In response to the allegation, Kola Olabisi, Media Adviser to the APC Chairman in Osun State, challenged Adeleke and the PDP to prove their case against the APC.

“They said they won the election, but they are still afraid,” he said. That implies they have skeletons in their closet. They are simply ranting. They should either prove their claim or stop ranting. They are terrified of their own shadow.”
