Political activist, Aisha Yesufu, has commended the former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Olumide Akpata, for joining the Labour Party.

TrackNews Media reported that Akpata on Monday was seen in a photo receiving the party’s membership card from the ward chairman.

Speaking about his LP membership via his Twitter handle on Tuesday morning, Akpata said that he joined the political party because he was tired of complaining about Nigeria every day.

Reacting to the development in a post via her Twitter page, Yesufu said the action of the former NBA President to join politics is fantastic news.

She stated that Nigerians can no longer afford to leave politics to charlatans that continuously degrade the lives of the people.

She wrote: “Fantastic News! This politics ehn, all of us go gather do am.

“We can no longer afford to leave politics to charlatans that continuously degrade our lives.

“Good governance comes from politics so political participation is critical. We will clean it up.”
