Senator Godswill Akpabio, the President of the Senate, has appointed Rt. Hon. Eseme Eyiboh, a former spokesperson for the House of Representatives, as his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs.

Akpabio personally disclosed this appointment during a media interaction with the Senate Press Corps in Abuja over the weekend.

The Senate President lauded Eyiboh as “an astute politician, a seasoned media manager, a public affairs expert, and a communications guru.

Eseme Eyiboh served two terms as a member of the House of Representatives, representing his constituency from 2007 to 2011 and subsequently getting reelected in 2011.

During his tenure in the Green Chamber, he held the positions of spokesman and chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs from 2007 to 2011, working under the speakership of Rt. Hon. Dimeji Bankole.

In 2011, Eyiboh was appointed Chairman of the House Committee on Civil Society Organizations and Donor Agencies by Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

His extensive experience includes serving as the immediate past Chairman of the Governing Board of the Cross River Basins Development Authority and holding positions such as former Executive Chairman of the Akwa Ibom State Ethical and Attitudinal Reorientation Commission, former Director at Akwa Palm Industries Ltd, former Speaker at the WAIFEM forum for Regional Parliamentarians in Accra, and former Corporate Affairs Consultant at Socfinco Indufina in Brussels.

Additionally, the newly appointed Special Adviser holds the position of Dean of the Faculty Board of the Initiatives, an influential caucus consisting of former and current members of the National Assembly focused on setting agendas and priorities.
