Senate President Godswill Akpabio has denied allegations of sexual harassment leveled against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, stating that he has never engaged in such misconduct. Akpoti-Uduaghan formally submitted a petition to the Senate on March 5, 2025, reiterating the claims she had previously made during a televised interview. In his defense, Akpabio emphasized his upbringing and reputation, describing himself as a gender-friendly leader.

Chief Whip Mohammed Monguno argued that the matter was already before a court, making it beyond the Senate’s jurisdiction.
