Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

The presidential candidates of the major political parties in Nigeria, according to NBA President Mr. Olumide Akpata, would not participate in any political debates at the NBA’s Annual General Conference, or AGC, which is taking place in Lagos.

Speaking to the media at the conference’s location, Eko Atlantic City, Akpata said Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party had all received formal invitations to speak at the conference.

The four presidential contenders would be given time to speak in one of the conference’s several sessions, he said, but he added that the session would not involve a debate, as some media outlets have reported.

“I’ve gotten a lot of calls from people asking me why their political party’s candidates weren’t included in the NBA-AGC presidential candidate discussion session,” he stated.

‘’

The session isn’t for argument, that much is true. We polled our members to find out which presidential candidates they would prefer to see in the upcoming election, and the results were Tinubu, Atiku, Obi, and Kwankwaso, the four top party contenders.

“The candidates will have plenty of opportunity to address the delegates and lay out their platforms. Additionally, questions will be raised, and that is it. For the record, it is not a debate, and the NBA, which is an impartial organization, is not endorsing any particular candidate.

The 62nd NBA-AGC, which will take place from August 19 to 26, 2022, will, according to Akpata, address concerns of transformation in the judiciary and the country as a whole.

The conference’s theme, “Bold Transitions,” according to Akpata, is also a reawakening for members who now have an association that looks out for their interests.

Torbenna Erojikwe, the head of the Technical Committee on Conference Planning, TCCP, said Akpata offered many novelties to the conference, including fresh concepts and technological advancements.
