Akpom wins third Championship Player of the Month award

Chuba Akpom has made it a hat-trick of the Player of the Month award in the Sky Bet Championship this season.

The Nigerian-born forward was named winner of the award for February on Thursday.

Akpom won the award in November and January.

The 27-year-old scored five goals for Michael Carrick’s side last month.

The goals came in the victories over Sheffield United, Blackpool and QPR.

Akpom has scored 23 goals in 29 league appearances for Boro this season
