Ama-ebi’s Induction into the Prestigious Port Harcourt Club 1928
On the evening of Wednesday, 27th November 2024, the air at the renowned Port Harcourt Club 1928 was charged with excitement, as a momentous event was about to unfold. By 7 PM, the atmosphere buzzed with anticipation. Members and leaders of the table tennis section filled the hall, their conversations echoing with respect and admiration. Tonight was no ordinary night. It was a celebration of achievement, legacy, and progress.
At the heart of it all stood Mr. Ama-ebi W. Ebikpolade, a man whose name had become synonymous with dedication and excellence in the table tennis world. As the Chairman of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) South South Zone and Chairman of the Bayelsa State Table Tennis Association (BYSTTA), he had championed the growth of the sport, inspiring countless athletes.
Accompanying him on this special journey were some of the finest pillars of table tennis: Mr. Kelly M., Secretary of NTTF South South Zone; Mr. Doubra Bidei, Secretary of BYSTTA; the ever-reliable veteran player, Maiduguri Ateh; his supportive brother, Akpos Donbraye; and his steadfast friend, Hassan Emmanuel.
As the clock struck 7:15 PM, the event commenced with a ceremonious introduction of the club’s executives and members, each word resonating with pride. Then came the moment of personal introduction—Mr. Ama-ebi stood, the room quieting in anticipation. His story of passion, resilience, and friendship unfolded like a well-loved book, captivating everyone present.
