His Excellency,
The Executive Governor
Bayelsa State
Creek Haven Government House
Yenagoa.Your Excellency Sir,APPEAL FOR THE BURIAL OF HER EXCELLENCY, MRS. FELICIA PAMARO OKILO, FORMER FIRST LADY OF OLD RIVERS STATE (1979-83)As we commemorate the 12th Anniversary of the death of His Excellency, Chief (Sen) Dr. Melford Obiene Okilo, CON the first Civilian Governor of old Rivers State (1979 – 1983), today the corpse of his wife who died three years ago is still lying in the mortuary.I decided to bring the above to the attention of Your Excellency because I am sure you are not aware of this shameful development since she died three years ago.Mrs. Felicia Pamaro Okilo, was born in Ayakoro Community of Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. She was the wife of the political sage and first civilian governor of old Rivers State, Senator (Chief) Melford Okilo, CFR.She had five children for Chief Okilo, and was a loving mother who cared greatly for her children and husband. She was a licensed nurse and midwife that was known for her kindness, light-heartedness, and humor. She established an arts and craft technical secondary school and
cattle rearing and ranching in her home town of Ayakoro Community in Ogbia Local Government Area. She died in 2018 after a protracted illness and she then her corpse has remained in the mortuary because of the immediate family inability to raise fund for her burial. As the former First Lady of the old Rivers State, she was a mother to all those who were in the old Rivers State now split into Rivers and Bayelsa States and she does not deserve the present ill-treatment in death. Our mother and heroine who was a great source of strength to her husband, our father and sage.It is my passionate appeal that Your Excellency will take up this responsibility and give Her Excellency a State burial and save the state this burden and shame.Thank you for your proactive disposition.Yours in the quest for a better and more prosperous Bayelsa State,Wisdom Oniekpar Ikuli
