Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports.

Elton Onwu, an APC chieftain, has slammed a viral comment attributed to the ruling party’s presidential candidate for 2023, Bola Tinubu, in response to Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s defeat in the recently concluded governorship election in Osun State.
According to Track News, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Ademola Adeleke was declared the winner of the Osun State governorship election on Saturday after receiving more votes than the incumbent governor and other candidates.

In the early hours of Sunday, a post quoting Tinubu as saying he will not dwell on the losses but will rethink his strategy for the 2023 general elections went viral on social media and in various print outlets.

In the statement, she said, “I don’t dwell on my losses.” In order to increase my chances of victory in the next battle, I analyze my mistakes, learn from them, and strategize.”

In response to the viral post, Onwu, a member of the 2019 APC Presidential Campaign Council, stated that the quote was written by him in a statement obtained by The Tracknews on Tuesday.

The statement was taken from the politician’s page by unknown individuals, shared on various social media platforms, and then published by online newspapers, according to the politician.

When it was clear that the party had yet to take a position on the election result, Onwu chastised some APC members for accepting the Tinubu-credited report hook, line, and sinker.

“I posted it as a party man to share my personal opinion and to encourage our teeming supporters who were disappointed with the election result,” Onwu explained.

“As a key party stakeholder, I felt obligated to send a message of hope to the people that failing in one contest does not define your true strength, but rather provides you with a better understanding of your weakness and how to work on yourself in the future.”

“The APC is well-known for its triumphant record.” We cannot allow a single setback to demoralize us. This is the most important point. The APC, led by Tinubu, will demonstrate to the rest of the world how to win democratic elections next year.”
