A section of the headquarters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, was set ablaze on Thursday morning.

The building which is located along Maiduguri road, in Kano metropolis, was set ablaze by some hoodlums, Naija News learnt.

Though no group has claimed responsibility for the fire, a faction of the ruling party in the state is suspected to be behind the incident.

www.tracknews.ng understands that the razed building housed the head office of the factional group of the APC led by former Kano governor, Ibrahim Shekarau. The faction is opposed by the second faction loyal to the incumbent governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

The Kano APC crisis got worse after the state congress, on October 18, produced two factional leaders with one loyal to Mr Ganduje and the other to Mr Shekarau.

An Abuja High Court sitting had on Tuesday, nullified the congresses of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje‘s faction of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

The presiding judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, in his ruling upheld the congresses conducted by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau-led faction of the party.

The ruling party in the state is currently in crisis due to the battle between the state Governor and Shekarau to control APC in the state, www.tracknews.ng understands.

Justice Muazu stated that the congress which returned 17,908 members was valid.

He also restrained Ganduje’s faction from appointing a new executive.

Governor Ganduje’s faction had elected Abdullahi Abbas as its chairman, while Shekarau’s faction elected Haruna Ahmadu Danzago in the parallel congress which held on October 16.

The National Appeal Committee set up by the ruling party had recognised the emerging chairman from the faction of Ganduje as the authentic chairman of the party in the state.
