The All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday said that it has reached more than 20 million electorate on telephone in furtherance of its presidential campaign ahead of the general election this year. The Director of Field Operations of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, stated this in Abuja. Ribadu, who spoke at the secretariat of the Field and Operation Directorate, said his team had carried the presidential campaign to every community in the country through its door-todoor and telephone calls campaign.
He said the directorate was divided into three sub-committees for effective campaign. According to him, the sub-committees include; Telephone call team, Door-to-Door canvassers and Social Media team. He said why the directorate adopted the three sub-committees was because one of it must get to at least one out of 50 million electorate.
The former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission said his directorate was carrying out its functions through voluntary contributions from members. He said majority of the 67, 000 youths working under his directorate as door-to-door canvassers or telephone canvassers were doing so as volunteers. “Everybody working here is working as a volunteer. We don’t have money, but we are doing the job given to the directorate.
“We have the Christian, Muslim and ethnic organisations working with us to campaign to Nigerians.” On the message of the directorate, Ribadu said their campaign was not to run down any candidate, but to tell the electorate what the President had done and what the President would do if reelected.
