The Court of Appeal in Abuja has scheduled Thursday, November 23, 2023, as the day for delivering judgment in the Nasarawa State governorship election dispute involving Governor Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was sacked by the Election Petition Tribunal.

In reference to the appeal filed by Governor Sule challenging the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal’s decision, which nullified his election and declared Ombugadu the rightful winner of the March 18 poll, the appellate court had earlier reserved judgment on November 15, 2023.

Ahead of the impending judgment, the Nasarawa State Police Command has heightened security measures throughout the state to prevent any potential breach of peace.

Acting Commissioner of Police in the state, Shettima Muhammad, announced the deployment of officers and personnel to strategic locations, stating, “Security personnel have been adequately deployed to strategic locations in the State to maintain peace.”

Addressing journalists in Lafia, Shettima Muhammad strongly warned political parties and their supporters against actions that could incite violence. He urged leaders to discourage unguarded remarks and warned against engaging in activities that might be construed as preparations for violent protests.

He stated, “Anyone or group that tries to disrupt peace and cause breakdown of law and order shall face the full wrath of the law.”

Furthermore, the Acting Commissioner of Police encouraged the residents of the state to carry out their lawful activities, assuring them of the Police Command’s dedication to ensuring the security of the state.
