Appointments: Former Commissioners, SAs, others intensify lobbying in Taraba

The lobby for appointments in the administration of the Taraba State governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has intensified lobbying for the positions of Commissioners and Special Advisers.

The incumbent governor had earlier said that 80 percent of his Commissioners would be young persons.

Appointments made so far are those of the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Chief of Staff, Chief Press Secretary and Chief Protocol Officer.

Some of the lobbyists told Track news that the governor should consider experience.

A former Special Adviser to the immediate past governor, Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku, said “most of these youths lack the desired experience.”

“We are not against him giving appointments to the youths, but to assign the position of a Commissioner to youths that are not fully equipped with the relevant experience to pilot the affairs of a ministry, I think that won’t be good enough for the development of our dear state,” he said.

Also, a former Commissioner told Track news that: “I am not all that eager or crazy for an appointment, but if given the chance, I would gladly accept the offer because I have all the needed experience and qualifications to be reappointed as a commissioner.”

Recently sacked chairmen of Boards and Parastatals are equally lobbying to be appointed either as Commissioners, SAs or returned to their former positions.

Most of the politicians are seeking help from religious and traditional leaders
