)In what could be termed as ‘karma’, some armed robbers have involved in a road crash while running away with one of their victim’s vehicle.

TrackNews Online learnt that the three suspects arrested on Sunday, June 19th by the operatives of the Ogun state police command after they were involved in the road accident.

They were said to be fleeing away with a Toyota Camry car which they allegedly snatched at gunpoint somewhere in Ondo state.

Speaking on the incident while conversing with news reporters earlier, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspects were heading towards Lagos from Ondo state with the stolen vehicle.

However, getting to a point at Ode Remo, due to dangerous driving, the vehicle reportedly hit a culvert and somersaulted. The PPRO said the three occupants, sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to hospital by the policemen from Ode Remo divisional headquarters.

While in the hospital, the DPO of Ode Remo division, CSP Fasogbon Olayemi, received a piece of information that, the vehicle in question was snatched at gunpoint by the accident victims. Having received the information, the DPO quickly ordered that they should be placed under arrest right in the hospital.

The owner of the vehicle who came all the way from Ondo state explained that, he was accosted on the road by a gang of five men dressed like policemen, and that he was dragged out of the car at gunpoint and the vehicle was taken away.

“One of the suspects, identified as Emeka John later died while receiving treatment.

“The remaining two, namely: Sunday Emmanuel and Idris Ibrahim were ordered to be transferred to state criminal investigation and intelligence department by the commissioner of police, cp Edward Awolowo Ajogun, for onward transfer to Ondo state command where they will be prosecuted,” the statement added.
