Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

Sector 2 Operation Hadin Kai troops in Yobe State have announced the capture of a large quantity of marijuana suspected of being destined for a terrorist enclave on the Nigeria-Niger border.

Brigadier General Umar Muazu, Chief of Staff to Sector 2 Commander Operation Hadin Kai, handed over the substance to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at its Damaturu headquarters yesterday.

According to Muazu, the courier abandoned the vehicle carrying the substance and fled when he saw troops on patrol.

Muazu stated that the drugs were on their way to Tungus, a terrorist enclave on the Nigeria-Niger Republic border.

“No suspects were apprehended because they all abandoned their vehicles and fled when they saw the patrolling team trying to catch up with him.”

“They were taking these materials to the terrorist enclave because these are the things that they take that cause them to act the way they do because no rational human being would do what they are doing without being intoxicated.” It has now been taken away from them, and by the grace of God, we are doing more to bring these terrorists to an end in the Northeast,” Muazu said.

On behalf of the Agency, Peter Ogar, Yobe State Deputy Commandant of the NDLEA, thanked the military for the synergy they have established with other security agencies in his remarks following receipt of the exhibit.

He told journalists that the 98 parcels of drugs were worth more than N4 million and would be sent for forensic testing.
