Ibekimi Oriamaja Reports

We’re glad you’re here at Tracknews, where we compile the most recent information on the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike for today, July 20, 2022.
University professors have reportedly been on strike since February 14, 2022 due to unresolved issues with the federal government, according to Track News.

They also want the 2009 agreement to be implemented, the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) to be replaced with the University Transparency and Accountability Solution, and better welfare for teachers (UTAS).

Yahaya Bello Criticizes Ngige and Adamu over the Extended ASUU Strike
The representatives of the federal government engaging in the negotiations with the Academic Staff Union of Universities have received criticism from Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello (ASUU).

According to Track News, the government’s negotiating representatives with ASUU are the ministers of education, Adamu Adamu, and labor and employment, Chris Ngige.

On Friday, Bello claimed in an interview with Channels Television that the ministers’ comments were callous and did not do President Muhammadu Buhari justice.

The governor emphasized how much President Buhari cares about education and the industry, stating that the Nigerian president will not permit the educational system to disintegrate while in office.

However, he urged President Buhari to make sure that the protracted strike is addressed. According to Governor Bello, those whom the president directed to handle the prolonged ASUU strike are embarrassing him.

ASUU explains why it rejected the new offer from the FG.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has explained why it turned down the Federal Government’s fresh offer.

ASUU stated that it rejected the offer because it was unhappy and unworkable in a statement released on Thursday and signed by its president, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke.

Osodeke noted that the Federal Government’s stated lack of funding was the main factor in the union’s refusal to accept the offer.

The president of ASUU charged that the government’s blatant apathy caused the continuing strike to continue.
