TRACKING______The Academic staff Union of Universities, Kano zone, has called on the Federal Government to declare a five-year state of emergency in the education sector by allocating 26 percent of the Federal and state governments budget to education.

The ASUU Zonal Coordinator, Prof Mahmoud Lawan made the call in a press conference in Kano.

He said the zone firmly believe that the measures would go a long way in tackling some of the challenges bedeviling the education sector in the country.

On the situation at the Kaduna State University (KASU), the ASUU Kano zone expressed dismay over the decision of the Vice Chancellor of the university to hold a congregation and Senate meeting despite the ongoing strike action .

Mahmoud Added that the ASUU Kano zone and national body are solidly behind the leadership of ASUU in KASU and will do the needful to protect their members from any form of intimidation or harassment by the university management or any agent of government.
