In Yenagoa, The Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, today attended the funeral of the four (4) Bayelsa Queens Football Club supporters who died in a fatal auto crash along the Kwale-Asaba highway in Delta State.

TRACKNEWS Media Reports that the Governor making his tribute at the brief service at Peace Park, Yenagoa, Governor Diri said “We all join the Igali family to mourn these four very promising young men of Eniwari and Fonibiri respectively, all in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

They have contributed to the development of Bayelsa State, and they have died while in active service to this state. Therefore, I hereby pronounce that all the children of these young men will be under the scholarship of the Bayelsa State Government from whichever level they are to their first-degree level, and the Honourable Commissioner for Education is hereby directed to ensure that this pronouncement is implemented immediately.

Also, their wives are hereby granted automatic employment by the State Government, and if any of them is unemployable at the moment, the Ministry of Trade and Investment should liaise with the office of the Secretary to the State Government to ensure that we provide resources that will enable them to carry out trade or businesses that will cater for their families.

I stand on behalf of the government and good people of Bayelsa State to express our deepest condolences to the Igali, Ogidi and Diripigi families, Eniwari and Fonibiri communities and Southern Ijaw Local Government Area. I pray God to give you the fortitude to bear these irreparable losses,” Governor Diri stated.

The deceased are; Mr. Eze Igali, 38 years, Kurotimi Igali, 36 years, Philemon Ogidi, 38 years and Clement Diripigi, 34 years.
